I am an engineer/scientist with a computational focus. Models and simulations are great tools to solve real world problems. I am particularly interested in their applications in bioinformatics, chemical engineering, and computer science.
I am currently pursuing a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. I expect to graduate in May, 2020. I am a member of the Samaniuk Lab at Mines where I have been doing research for over three years.
Outside of class, I am involved in multiple leadership roles on campus, with the National Academy of Engineering NAE Grand Challenges Scholar Program, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Mines Chapter, the Undergraduate Student Government at CSM.
I attended a National Science Foundation NSF summer research program at Johns Hopkins University with Professor Rigoberto Hernandez and the Sophomore Experience Program at BP America over the summer of 2018. I interned as a production engineering intern at Oxy over the summer of 2019. I have learned so much from those experiences. They helped me grow by broadening my knowledge.
I firmly believe in the importance of communication, diversity, and inclusion in the STEM field. In an age when an increasing number of problems possess an interdisciplinary and intercultural nature, teamwork among people from different backgrounds is certainly a key to major breakthroughs in the STEM field.
