CEEN 598: Durability of Concrete
Every Spring
This course provides an in-depth overview of concrete properties relevant to deterioration, including transport, mechanical, physical, and chemical properties. Students will learn to identify, quantify, and mitigate against various deterioration mechanisms, such as freezing and thawing, sulfate attack, alkali-aggregate reactions, acid attack, and corrosion of steel rebar. This course will also illustrate how to test materials for durability and ways in which construction methods may affect durability. Students will learn the strengths and limitations of the world’s most ubiquitous building material!
